The Gamernator +giftart+

From the creator of "The Lord of the Games" comes another wacky and funny videogame and movie crossover called: THE GAMERNATOR.

I only like to do parodies like that with a sense of irony, like they could be true. The Terminator series are some of my all-time favorite movies and I started to notice from striking similiarities between the storyline and videogames. Unlike "The Lord of the Games", however, this will not be a grand-scale project. Just a couple of shorts.

I gotta be honest with you. I had been planning this for some time. The Gamernators are personifications of Nintendo's old systems. (If you understand what the "NUS-64" posted on his sunglasses means, I salute you.) But I didn't know WHO should personify the Gamernator, for I had already used most of gaming's biggest icons for my other movies.

Then one of my favorite artists here, Mark Haynes, made this picture, "Time to turn up the heat" [link] I took my time to absorb the stance and the emotion on Mario's face and then it finally hit me, I found my Gamernator. It was so obivous, I can't believe I never though of it before! None of my other movies have Mario as a starring role and he fit the bill more than you know.

If anyone can get through to Mr. Haynes and let him know about this picture, I would really appreciate it. It means a lot to me if the artist who inspired me can see my own work, just like with the "Surrender-SF Revelations" deviation. Thank you very much sir. I couldn't have done it without you.

Speaking of the Surrender deviation, thankfully, I never got any complaints whatsoever that it was hard to see and became one of my most popular pieces. Therefore, while my laptop was in the shop, I decided to reuse that style of pure graphite for the Gamernator. So while the initial sketch was completed on February 14th, I got around to redrawing the NES gun, retracing the lines and adding shadow effects just last night. The only true digital aspect of this picture was the text. Everything else is 100% HD (Hand-drawn).
